The Daily Guide
Confident in God for others!
I thank my God upon every remembrance of you...making request for you...being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.
Philippians 1:3-6 - NKJV
Is there someone in your life you're concerned about? Perhaps you're concerned for a spouse, a child or a friend who isn't doing too well in the Lord. In spite of your concern are you living in confidence for them? The apostle Paul was about his loved ones! He was confident because they were always on his heart and he prayed for them daily. He committed them into the care of God!
The apostle Paul saw himself as a spiritual farmer. He conducted his mission and his ministry in that way. He described his work as follows, "I planted, Apollos (for example) watered but God gave the increase." Paul did the farmers bit and he left God to take care of the increase. As a result, even when nothing seemed to be happening, he remained in quiet trust. He was confident that, since he'd planted and someone had watered, then good fruit would spring up. He'd done his part so there was no way he was going to get careful over the resultant crop. He started a good work in people's lives then he looked to the Lord to perfect it. 1Cor.3:6-9.
Live like Paul. Be a spiritual farmer who plants seed by prayer and ministry. In your role as a farmer, you can plant, someone can water but you need to rely upon God for the increase. It's no good shouting at the plants of the field urging them to grow. Follow Paul's example and you'll be giving God the space He needs to give the increase.
In prayer place people in God's care
